Scout Patch Website Hacked

Posted in OAImages News by John E. Pannell on December 13th, 2006 at 11:52 pm

Earlier tonight I received the following email from Bob Turner (edited slightly by me):

Dear John,

I’m a former Scout from the ’50s-’60s, and new to your web site.

While navigating the home page I noted the (deleted) icon and clicked on it. I was shocked to find the link it took me to:

 (link deleted)

I think your fine site has been hacked and I thought you would want to know.

OAImages.com has not been hacked, rather it was site the link was pointing to.  It was apparently hacked by someone known as mdx, or the Turkish hacker, who replaced the site with a page sympathetic to the radical islamofascist cause.   He says the page is “For Muslims , For Filistin I to protesting! [America, Italia ,Israel , France...]” (sic).   The rest of the page was written in what I think is Turkish.

Such attacks are rather common, as Google ™ shows.

To spare the owner embarssment, I will not say who it is.   The link has been removed from my site and will not be put back up until the owner has assured me his site is clean and restored.

Thanks to Bob for not only being observant, but also taking the time to let me know about this problem!
