Merry Christmas

Gov. Mike Easley of North Carolina has temporarily lifted the ban on flying reindeer:

Easley said he has temporarily lifted the importation ban on reindeer coming into the state and asked the Federal Aviation Administration to keep the skies over North Carolina clear on Christmas Eve.

“My contacts at the North Pole tell me that Santa has lots of presents for good little boys and girls of North Carolina this year,” said Easley. “I am taking these actions so that Santa will have a clear path from Manteo to Murphy as he delivers presents.”

Yep… it’s a completely silly story, but still mildly amusing.   Folks from North Carolina will understand the phrase “From Manteo to Murphy”.  It’s reference to the 543 mile long trip across North Carolina on US Highway 64 from Manteo in the east to Murphy in the west.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
