ford-scouting.jpgMost everyone has heard by now that President Gerald R. Ford died on the evening of December 26, 2006.     He was the first  and, for the foreseeable future, only American president to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Many tributes have been written already.     Many more will be written.     So far, I seen only one from the point of view of his being a Scout.      Please read Pastor Bob McCanless’ tribute to President Ford, a far better post than I could ever write.

"We've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of government himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?"
