2002 Construction Crew Patch
Greg Grimes recently brought this patch to my attention. It came out in late 2002 but was not included in either the 2004 or 2006 editions of Blue Book.
This patch was issued to those brothers who provided service towards the construction of the new waterfront at Camp Durant.
I’m not certain to how to list this. It wasn’t issued for a specific event, but rather those who provided assistance on a construciton project over time. My guess is it should be a lodge issue instead of an event piece. Blue Book information for these patches are as follows:
| Issue | Bdr Color/Type | Bkgd | Name | fdl/BSA | Comments | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| X16.75? | BLK | C | M/C | BLK | YEL | fdl; 2002 Construction Crew |

As a follow-up to this, I’ve had additional conversations with other fellow collectors. It seems the tradition (at least in the Southern Region) is that if a emblem has a date on it, well it’s considered an event patch regardless of the intent. I had always gone by the “evil” words Pow-Wow, Inductions, Fellowship to qualify a patch as an event patch but now it seems any inclusion of a date will make it an event patch. Oh well….I like event patches too!!
