1980 Fifty Miler Trek - Eno River Trail
Thanks to David York for bringing this patch to my attention.
Tali Taktaki 70, and then later Tsoiotsi Tsogalii 70, had a tradition of intermittently sponsoring Fifty Miler Treks during the week after Christmas. The trek was in 1979 and the last one I know of was in 2003.
An attractive patch was generally produced that followed a similar basic design scheme from year to year. Until now this patch from 1980 has neither been listed in Blue Book nor pictured on this site. Blue Book information for this patch should be as follows:
| Issue | Bdr Color/Type | Bkgd | Name | fdl/BSA | Comments | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| eR1980? | LBL | R | M/C | – | YEL | fdl; (1980) 50 Miler Trek Eno River Trail |
Beyond the basic design scheme, all these fifty miler patches had a few things in common. The full date of the trek was written on the patch, not just the year. Also the lodge name was never placed on these patches. Instead the lodge totem, an arrow and “WWW” were prominent parts of the design.
