Peculiarly Similar Patches?

I was recently sent an image by Jeff Ansley of a chapter patch from the Hyas Lamonte chapter of Lo La ‘Qam Geela 491.   To be honest, there’s nothing extraordinary about the design.   It’s rather plain.  Even though it fails to explicitly identify the lodge, it serves the purpose of identifying members of the chapter.  Presumably a knowledgeable person could figure out what lodge this is from based upon the unusual chapter name.

However, I thought the shape and color scheme was a bit peculiar:  I’ve seen it before.

Nanepashemet lodge 158 a patch with a similar odd-shape and color scheme.   Pictured here is the F1 from this lodge issued for the 2003 Indian Summer.  Except for the lodge name and event text, these two issues are identical.

Immokalee 353 also used this design on two events patches in 2005 (see the images below)

Am I imagining a similarity here?  Surely, this isn’t just coincidence?  Is this a stock design from the BSA or a patch company?  Is there more to the story about why these are so similar?
