Lodge 104: Uncatalogued Elangomat Issue?
Greg Grimes sent me the image of the patch at the head of this post. He thinks it might be an unknown/unlisted elangomat issue from Occoneechee lodge.
He reports this was in a collection of items from Occoneechee and therefore suspects this piece could also be from that lodge. He has no other evidence to support this contention.
This lodge is and has been avidly collected by many folks. While certainly possible, it would be a bit unusual for an issue to have escaped the notice of the various collectors and cataloguers for all these years.
Has anyone seen this piece before? If so, what can you tell us about it? Was it issued by lodge 104, and when? Is it a private issue? Did it come from somewhere else? Is it perhaps a stock design? Comments are welcome!

I doubt it’s a stock design; a stock patch would have better use of perspective on the drawing of the firelay. (I have been guilty in the past–Nentico 12 eX1988a.)
John,
Could this possibly be the (104) A0.5 GRY R BLU YEL ELG; no name or number; handmade (Previously double listed as second A1). The thing that throws me is the “handmade” in the listing??? Otherwise everything matches, but this is obviously not handmade.
Greg
Maybe “handmade” was derived from the crude art? And it might be Asian one-at-a-time embroidery–the lettering looks a bit too good, but the background shows the right kinds of irregularities. It’s certainly a gray rolled-edge blue background arrowhead with a yellow “Elangomat” and no name or number.
Actually–NEWS FLASH–it’s p. 194 of the Farrar and Humber book, described as “SE2 - 1974-75 Elangomat Training - Section Issue”.
