Lodge 104: Conclave Delegate Flap Variety?
Occoneechee lodge had to place a second order for the 2007 SR-7B Conclave delegate flap. It was pointed out at the Conclave that the patches from each order are distinctly different. It was argued these should be listed as separate varieties.
Greg Grimes was not easily persuaded and provided a scan of both with an an explanation of the differences. Take a look at the scan and tell us what you think.

I always think a different version of any color makes it an a or b unless its a completely different color.
New shade = new trade
I think the color difference may only be in a dye lot variation, although it is not easily distinguished in my scan. If they are side by side you can see the difference. How do you distinguish a very minor color difference of orange with one being only so slightly differenct in the color?
The line thickness and detail in the skull, I would say is the major difference, but again you really have to have them side by side to distinguish the difference. Not like having a cloth back vs. a plastic back.
And as for the FDL—Is 1mm difference that noticable without a ruler?
Take a look at the 118 S-14’s I think…..There must be 3 or 4 shades of green in the background and it is only considered as 1 issue. Do we really need to try to classify these very minor color difference? I even have one that is a full border width different and obviously smaller….not that should be the “B” variety.
104’s s-7 Bro flap also has about 3 different background shades of gold mylar…how do you classify gold mylar with 3 different shades of gold…light gold, gold and dark gold??
I think sometimes were’re getting to hung up on colors just to have a different patch to trade. I guess I shouldtake this to NC’s BB editor since he is just around the corner from be and let him make a final determination on this…..my 2 cents worth.
Geez……My spelling and grammer are terrible in that post…I am sick today though so please excuse me.
While this is not my call since its not NYS, I’m of mixed minds on this (a normal state of affairs some may say).
Yes it is a difference. If it was my home lodge I would likely look to collect the minor variations like this.
However, I think I would come down on the MVE - Orange in the single issue description.
