Lodge 119: Better Late Than Never?
It isn’t just issues from NOAC that come out late! I have just received word that Tomo Chi-Chi lodge has issued a host lodge flap for last April’s Dixie Fellowship (SR-5 Conclave). Thanks to Alan McDonald for the news and images.
To be honest, the flap didn’t come out this late. It just took this long for word of the patch to make it to me here in central North Carolina.
I am told the flaps were sold with a limit of 5 per person to those who stayed until Sunday afternoon to help with the cleanup. It is the first flap from Tomo-Chi-Chi lodge to not have “WWW” on it.
My educated guess for what the Blue Book listings for these flaps should be is:
| Issue | Bdr Color/Type | Bkgd | Name | fdl/BSA | Comments | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S36? | BLK | R | M/C | BLU | LGY | fdl;2007 Dixie Fellowship Host |
| Tomo-Chi-Chi 119 page on OAImages.com | ||||||
Alan also tells me there are plans for two more flaps. A blue bordered flap with the same design would be for those who put in 15 hours’ service. There is also plans for a yellow bordered flap for those who put in 30 hours’ service. I’ll add these to my blog and site after their issuance has been confirmed and I have images. If anyone can help with these two pieces, please do.
Alan also sent me the Dixie fellowship participant patch and a staff patch with the same design. Can anyone please tell me if the staff patch was issued by lodge 119 or the section?
There is also a cool looking new CSP from the Coastal Empire Council. It was not issued by lodge 119 and will not be in the Blue Book. I just thought it was a nice design and wanted to share it here. The Dixie flap and CSP were intentionally made with a similar color scheme and theme.

John,
“I am told the flaps were sold with a limit of 5 per person to those who stayed until Sunday afternoon to help with the cleanup.”
Not entirely true. The Sunday session was the first opportunity for lodge members to purchase their maximum of 5 flaps — some small reward for those brothers who did stay and help with the clean-up, post-Dixie recap, and close of the event and the camp.
I, also, appreciate very much Alan McDonald’s perserverance in cending you pictures of and information on our flaps and annaul meeting patches.
Thanks for all you do. Yours in Brotherhood,
Lanny G. Rhodes
