“New” Old Lodges Added
Some may have noticed that the number of lodges cited on the main page of this site has recently gone up by about a dozen. No, there hasn’t been a rush of mergers or consolidations. There haven’t been new lodges chartered in the few councils that don’t yet charter an Order of the Arrow lodge.
There is a seller on eBay that has been producing and selling a number of “private issues”, “replicas”, or place holder pieces. Some have been fakes of obscure and rare issues. Others have been placeholder type pieces for lodges that never issued any insignia. Regardless of what might think about such material it should be noted that he clearly states that these are private issues. No one can honestly claim they were bidding on authentic lodge issues.
He seems to have been working through the lodge of lodges in numerical order. The most recent lodges with placeholder “private issues” created include 269 Akonequa, 298 Gorgonia, 328 Ya Ha Klack Go, 369 Chi Sigma, 339 Genesee, 380 Ho-Mita-Koda, 395 Tribe of La Porte, 396 Mahoning, 400 Quetzal, 493 Kola, 514 Choa, and 551 Na-Ko-Na.

Wonderful…….more CRAP for rip-off artists to scam new collectors with……
He’s honest in being clear these aren’t authentic issues of the lodge. That’s more than I can say for others who sell their “chang-type” fakes without disclosure. These need to be documented so that future collectors don’t think otherwise.
Will collectors treat these any differently than the old black on yellow felt “flaps” that came out of the lodge 550 area years ago?
