The First 2009 NOAC Patch! Already!?
I was making a very quick browse through eBay this morning and saw something that caught my interest.
Abnaki 102 has recently issued a set of patches for Scouting’s and the BSA’s centennial. The set features three oddly shaped flaps and a larger patch in the shape of the traditional flap and chevron two-part set. For those keeping track of how The Rules are being enforced, it is notable that the flaps do not conform to the shape of the uniform pocket flap.
Each patch in turn is dated 2007 through 2010. The 2009 patch explicitly says “2009 NOAC Indiana University”. NOAC is still nearly two years away!
Since, as a rule, I do not lift images from eBay auctions for use on this site you’ll have to search eBay yourself to see these. I will add images if and when I get some I can use here.
As a footnote, this is not the first time and oddly dated NOAC piece has come out of The Ocean State. Wincheck lodge #534 issued a two part set for the 2002 NOAC (S31+X7) before its merger. By the time NOAC came around, the set had the distinction of being that year’s only NOAC patches for a lodge that no longer existed.

[...] Last Fall I wrote about a series of patches issued by Abnaki 102 for the centennial of Scouting and the BSA. Each had a year from 2007 through 2010 on it. The 2009 patch said on it “2009 NOAC Indiana University”. Even though it is really an issue for Scouting’s centennial it does mention NOAC, so I dubbed it the first 2009 NOAC patch. [...]
