Lodge 221: New Standard Flap

Posted in Muscogee 221, SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on November 3rd, 2007 at 9:15 am

Muscogee lodge has come out with a new standard flap. The flap features an new artistic rendering of the lodge’s fox totem in what appears to be a Southeastern “low land” forest. The artistic style kind of matches this year’s activity patches and I suspect it is the work of the same artist.

The lodge name and fleur d’lis are both embroidered in a shade of green that I can’t quickly label well. Using “Blue Book speak”, I’d call the color olive (OLV) unless someone can convince me of a better choice.

Data for this issue in Blue Book format are as follows:

Issue Bdr Color/Type Bkgd Name fdl/BSA Comments
S35? DGR R M/C OLV OLV fdl; 2007

I’m not sure what’s wrong with GRN as a description.

The main point of a Blue Book listing is identification, not perfect artistic description. Specialized color variants like OLV may be useful when distinguishing among multiple issues or varieties that differ in the color of a particular element, but in cataloging an issue that is easy to distinguish I think it’s best to stick with the basic color names. This is a green-bordered flap with green lettering and a green FDL.
