These 50 States: Kentucky
“…Weep no more my lady. Oh! Weep no more today!
We will sing one song for my old Kentucky home
For my old Kentucky home, far away…”
After a quick jaunt into the harsher climes of Big Sky country, I thought I would turn my attention to the Blue Grass state. This is the six in an ongoing series of posts about state shaped patches. Previous entries have covered state shaped patches from Montana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
I was able to find only one patch in the shape of Kentucky. This was a jacket patch from Kawida 480, listed in Blue Book as the J2. Kawida’s territory is clearly shown in the eastern part of the state. That area is segmented into the original territory of Kawida lodge and the two lodges absorbed into it over the years, Tomahaken 241 and Mischa Mokwa 435. Each lodge’s area is identified by its totem.
Wapiti 367 incorporated a map of their state into their 1976 Spring Fellowship patch, Blue Book eX1976-1. The rather simple design shows the lodge’s territory in what I will call southcentral Kentucky.
As always, please let me know if I have missed any patches that should be listed here.
