These 50 States: Florida

Posted in Florida Lodges, Patch Collecting, These 50 States by John E. Pannell on November 16th, 2007 at 4:12 am

This is the  eighth in an ongoing series of posts about state shaped patches. Previous entries have covered state shaped patches from Alabama, Kentucky,  Montana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The Florida lodges are known for their innovative patch designs, especially when it comes to lodge activity  and chapter patches

Aal-Pa-Tah lodge is the only lodge to have issued patches in the shape of this state.     The same basic design was used many times throughout the lodge’s history.     These are listed in Blue Book as the  C2, J1,  X3, X4, X5, X7, X8, X16, ZJ1.     Some of these issues have multiple varieties.

While not shaped like the state, this state’s shape has figured prominenly in several patches from several different lodges.     The following patches use the shape of Florida in their designs:

  • – Echockotee 200 eX2004-6;
  • – Aal-pa-tah 237 N6;
  • – Semialachee 239 X2;
  • – O-Shot-Caw 265, Nok-su chapter, N1;
  • – Timuquan 340 J1, X1 (including varieties), ZJ1.

Are there any others I have missed?
