Lodge 560: 2007 Dixie Fellowship Neckerchiefs
Eswau Huppeday lodge adopted a Batman theme for their current program year. The theme figures prominently on their lodge event patches as well as the flap issued for this year’s Dixie Fellowship. In keeping with this theme, six different neckechiefs were made for the Dixie Fellowship. Thanks to Jimmy Arthurs and David Cody for tipping me off about these.
There is some question whether these items should be listed in Blue Book. None of the neckerchiefs have anything on them indicating they are from Eswau Huppeday lodge, the Order of the Arrow, or even the BSA. They are handmade, cut from cloth bought in a store and then hemmed. Theoretically, if one could find the same cloth and knew the size of the neckerchiefs more of these could easily be made. I am told all six were made in low quantities, ranging from about 10 to 30 each.
I have also been told these were not readily available to lodge members, or even Dixie delegates. Given the quantities made, it is quite possible no one has all six of these. There is also some question whether the lodge’s executive committee authorized the production of these. However, the lodge did sell them and kept the profits from those sales. There were matching neckerchief slides made and some were worn as neckerchiefs.
I have listed them as lodge issues for now. Ultimately, the Blue Book editor for North Carolina will have the task of deciding whether to list these as official lodge issues or not. (Please see update at end of this message.)
Jimmy was only able to supply me images of four of these neckerchiefs. He tells me the other two were yellow with different patterns. Given the update at the end of this message, Blue Book data are as follows:

UPDATE!
Jimmy Arthurs sent me this additional email this morning (11/29):
“…On the batman n/c’s it might be best to list them as private issue(s). When I think about the numbers made, I think some colors had fewer than 10 made. No one knew they were being made til the guy showed up with them at Dixie. At that point do we make a stink or let him (sell) them? He made and sold those, he then later made more and gave them to the lodge to sell. He had some of the same colors and some additional colors. He is not a patch trader so he did not do it for personal gain, but for the boys to have fun….”
Given this information, in my opinion these should be listed as private issues at best.
Accordingly, I have renumbered this as ZN2? - ZN7?. The missing “ZN1?” is a topic for a separate post.

JOHN YOU SAY THE ZN1 IS A SEPARATE TOPIC JUST CURIOUS IS IT ANOTHER PRIVATE DIXIE ISSUE? LIKE A CAT IN A HAT? PERSONALLY I THINK LODGES SHOULD NOT GIVE IN TO THESE “FAKE” ISSUES BY THEIR OWN LODGE MEMBERS AND THEY SHOULD NOT BE CLASSIFIED IN THE BLUEBOOK. BY INCLUDING THEM ONLY PROMOTES REBEL BEHAVIOR.
Interestingly, none of the so called Z issue neckerchiefs are identified as Eswau Huppeday lodge issues; no name, number, or council designations. Other than the fact that they go along with our lodge spirit theme, they would just be handkerchiefs at best. They were made without lodge approval, and were made by individuals in hopes to have fun and create spirit, list them as neckerchiefs if we must, I would not list them at all. They are not fakes, but are unauthorized.
