Lodge 104: Second Unit Service Arrowhead
Sometimes even simple things get missed.
Greg Grimes recently remembered that Occoneechee lodge issued two different Unit Service arrowhead patches. One, the A2, has the “MGM Indian” logo in the design. After the National logo was changed to the “OA Arrowhead” the lodge revised this patch to include this new logo in place of the older one. This happened sometime after the A3a (Camp Durant Staff) was issued.
Since nothing after the A3 is currently listed in the official Blue Book database and all subsequent issue numbers are tentative, it’s easy enough for me to insert this patch into the lodge’s listing. This newer Unit Service arrowhead will become the A4. The patches previously listed on my site as A4 through A6 have been renumbered as A5 through A7. The description for the A2 should also be changed in order to distinguish it from the newer A4.
Blue Book data for the affected issues are as follows:
| Issue | Bdr Color/Type | Bkgd | Name | fdl/BSA | Comments | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A2 | DYL | R | DYL | BLK | DYL | TROOP SERVICE; MGM Indian logo |
| A4? | DYL | R | DYL | BLK | DYL | TROOP SERVICE; OA Arrowhead logo |
| A5? | BLK | C | LGY | DYL | BLK | fdl; 1937 2007 70th Anniversary |
| A6? | BLK | C | M/C | RED | PUR | fdl; LLD, Trained Arrowman |

On another topic, I apologize to readers of this blog for the outage that appears to have lasted most of the day.
