UNC 88 — Nicholls State 78

Old WellCarolina tonight played their first home game since November 20th.     It wasn’t the blowout some of us were hoping for but the Tar Heels did prevail for an 88-78 win over Nicholls State.   This was the first game in a holiday season homestand against what looks lik a group of “cream puff” teams.

Coach Williams was probably not too happy with this performance.     As posted on Yahoo! Sports, Aaron Beard, AP Sportswriter, says it well, “Hansbrough leads lethargic No. 1 Tar Heels past Nicholls State, 88-78“:

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Tyler Hansbrough scored 27 points and showed no ill effects from a weekend concussion to help No. 1 North Carolina beat Nicholls State 88-78 on Wednesday night…

Hansbrough’s concussion was of a very rare sort:   no foul was called on the opposing player that caused it. ;)

With this victory the Tar Heels improve to 10-0.     Next up are the UCSB Gauchos on  Saturday.     I am skipping the Winston-Salem TOR and delaying my trip to my mom’s for Christmas, so I can attend this game.   I hope the Tarheels give me a more impressive and “crowd pleasing” performance.
