UNC 90 — Clemson 88 (OT)

It was a nail biter last night in South Carolina as the Tar Heels barely managed an overtime victory over Clemson in their 2007-8 ACC debut.

Clemson controlled the game almost from the start but was unable to finish it off.   It is a mark of a great team that the Tar Heels were able to keep the game within reach.  Victory was secured with a 3 point shot by Ellington with 0.4 seconds left in overtime.

Ellington had a career high 36 points for the Tar Heels last night.  My favorite quote about the game was from Coach Purnell of Clemson when asked about Ellington’s points.  He said something like, ‘I didn’t know he had that many.  I would have been happy if he had only 33.’ (not an exact quote)

The Tarheels improve to 15-0 and maintain their number one ranking.  They next play UNC-Asheville on the 9th, their last non-conference regular season game of the year.

"I worry about my child and the Internet all the time, even though she's too young to have logged on yet. Here's what I worry about. I worry that 10 or 15 years from now, she will come to me and say 'Daddy, where were you when they took freedom of the press away from the Internet?' "

John, that was a nail biter, but the great teams always find a way to win…my sons have always been UNC fans,in Spokane(home of ES-Kaielgu) we have a huge 3on 3 streetball tourney every summer. My “boys” (they are 29 now) named our team the Tarheels. I kept them in Air Jordans thru their high school playing days.
WSU has it’s work cut out for them this weekend, the SoCal swing: USC & UCLA, hope they win them both…Who’s the ACC ’s stud teams besides UNC?
