Lodge 185: Unlisted Chapter Pieces?

Lodge 185 Ca-Nu-Pa Chapter loopsCharlie Moehlenbrock, a former member of Atta Kulla Kulla lodge currently in Kansas, recently wrote me about a few items that should probably be added to the chapter listings for this lodge. He also included the set of shoulder loops pictured here. They’re not material that would be included in a patch catalog but I thought them worthy for sharing here nonetheless.

Unfortunately Charlie isn’t the best photographer, so I must apologize for the less than great quality of these images.

I will quote Charlie’s email to me below, with additions by me noted in italics.

- 1985 Fall Neckerchief (no image yet): Was made during the Fall Fellowship in the old dining hall. This was my first fellowship, and I cannot remember the adult, but was a fellow that had screen printing set up in dining hall for any member to make a neckerchief. He had These blue pieces of cloth and walked us through the process. I believe 15-20 were made. This being my first item in the lodge and being young, I did not hold it to much value till years later when I was cleaning out my stuff at my parents house, thus the stains. As you can see the emblem matches the patch. I need to see this piece before I can decide if it should be listed as an “N”.

- 1989 Southbounder/Foothill Camporee/Indian Seminar: I was the VC of Indian Affairs for the lodge and we planned and executed a joint district/chapter camporee [and] Indian Seminar at COI. I personally designed this patch as a youth, but we had two versions made. One Mr. Hutto (already listed under Sahkanaga chapter) submitted for Foothills district and this one for Southbounders district.

- 1987 Foothills Camporee at Camp Joe Hayes: I believe this was chapter sponsored thus the arrow on the camporee patch.

- Ca Nu Pa Epaulets: I do not know the history, picked up on eBay a year back, but believe this chapter of AKK issued these. I don’t believe there are any other Ca-nu-pa chapter, so it is logical to presume these could be from lodge 185. These are interesting items but beyond the general scope of this. I include them only as a curiosity.

- 1992 Six & Twenty / Ca Nu Pa Camporee: Again do not know history, but picked up off eBay.

Folks might argue these are district patches rather than chapter items. I’m not so sure and think these should be included in the chapter listings for this lodge. Listing data for these items are as follows:

Chapter Issue Bdr Color/Type Bkgd Name fdl/BSA Comments
Ca-nu-pa eX1992? BRN R DYL - DYL fdl; RED Ca-nu-pa Host; BRN Fall Camporee ‘92
Sakhanaga eA1987? YEL R GRN - DYL outline fdl; 1987 Foothills Camporee
Southbounder’s eA1989? PUR C M/C ORG YEL YEL fdl outlined in BLK; Southbounder’s District ‘89 Fall Camporee Indian Seminar

The Shoulder Loops are from the Ca Nu Pa Chapter of Atta Kulla Kulla Lodge. We have them made occasionally, when enough people want them.
