Attention AOL Users
It has once again come to my attention that AOL is blocking all email being sent from this site’s server. It’s not something new and I’m convinced it’s part of AOL’s marketing department’s push to claim they’re fighting spam. I urge you not to use an AOL.com email address on the members’ area of this site.
This has happened before. They claimed I probably had an open relay on the server (I didn’t) that was being used to send spam. At that time, I was made aware that AOL would let through what they deemed to be “bulk mail”… for an extra fee… even if I did have that open relay. After some time all was well and mail was flowing through again, without me having to pay them anything.
AOL even went through a period of time when it was blocking mail from some residential RoadRunner users because of how this company configured the dynamic IP addresses of its residential customers. That AOL and Roadrunner are both part of Time Warner didn’t seem to enter into this business strategy.
A few weeks ago I started seeing mail bounce again. First it was intermittent. Then all mail would bounce but when I forwarded it on from my personal email account, I’d hear that the original message was delivered. Now all mail from OAImages’ server appears to not be going through. This mean subscribers will not receive initial passwords, changed passwords, renewal notices, member created pdf files, or any other automated message unless I happen to notice these mails (or am told) and forward them manually. Please let me know if you don’t receive your passwords and I will forward them as soon as I can.
If past experience is a guide, this will eventually stop and all will return to normal. I cannot say when that will happen.
In the meantime, I strong urge all subscribers with an aol.com email address to change the email address used on this site. There are various free email services available, including gmail or Yahoo, and none appear to be blocking this site. I also urge any potential new subscribers to not use an AOL address when subscribing to this site.
I apologize for any inconvenience.
