Central Region Reorganization
After receiving word of a reorganization of the BSA areas in the Southern and Northeastern region, I had wondered how long it would be until I heard about the other regions. It didn’t take long until Andrew Kosmowski pointed me to this announcement on the OA Central Region website.
Andrew created this map using the information in the announcement and the BSA’s Central Region map. I haven’t verified its accuracy. Other than some potential issues around the Chicago area it seems pretty reasonable and likely accurate.
Andrew also sent this chart, showing the lodges and councils by the new areas and what sections they were formerly in.

Previously the Central Region had five areas that were subdivided by the OA into sections (C-1A through C-5C). In this new reorganization, the BSA will divide this region into seven areas. I expect at least some will be divided into sections.
I may need to chastise some readers a bit here. Previously, I had posted news of the Southern Region reorganization. In that post I made it abundantly clear that this was the reorganization of the BSA areas, and that sections created for Order of the Arrow purposes might be different and subdivisions of those areas. I was criticized for posting inaccurate information in this matter but after a review of the official announcement it would appear my first post was accurate for what it was.
Please read these announcements carefully. BSA areas are management constructs created by the BSA for the purpose of running that organization and delivering the program to the councils. Sections are created by the Order of the Arrow for the purpose of serving the lodges and its brothers, primarily through annual section conclaves. They are not the same. An OA section sometimes is a subdivision of a BSA area. My own area, SR7, is one such example being divided into SR-7A (Virginia) and SR-7B (eastern and central North Carolina).
Please do not harass members of the National Committee about changes you see here until after you have carefully read and understood them.

Dear John,
A quick clarification on the map. There is no boundary between Heart of America Council #307 and Pony Express Council #311. The maps I used were via the Central OA site, most specifically this one, which does not provide that boundary.
