Lodge 117: 2008 SR-7B Conclave Flap

Posted in Croatan 117, SR-7B Lodges by John E. Pannell on April 30th, 2008 at 12:03 am

Finally, I am nearing the end of the new issues from the SR-7B Conclave.

Croatan lodge magically (?) depicted the Croatan Express on their 2008 Conclave flap. Some might say that it’s in homage to “rednecks” in the South that the lodge’s deer totem has been rendered as a railroading version of a hood ornament. This is a lodge that has previously demonstrated its ability to poke fun at itself with an odd design choice.

As some more experienced collectors might remember, this is not the first time Croatan has depicted a steam engine on a “flap”. Even though it is listed as an odd-shape in Blue Book, this patch was Croatan’s 1994 NOAC flap.

Listing data for the 2008 SR-7B Conclave flap is as follows:

Issue Bdr Color/Type Bkgd Name fdl/BSA Comments
S66? YEL R M/C RED GRN fdl; Conclave 2008 Delegate

Now don’t forget, the best part of the flap is the nice BA on the train engine. That way noone will forget the chief. By the way, I enjoy the post. Us in Croatan are perty good at poking fun at ourselves.
