Seminole 85: 2008 Activity Patch “Puzzle” Set

Posted in Florida Lodges, Seminole 85 by Robert Mathis on June 7th, 2008 at 5:02 pm

Seminole Lodge 85  has finally released their activity patches for 2008 (originally delayed due to manufacturer problems).    Much like all but one year of their activity patch sets since 2001, this is in the form of a puzzle set, with all six pieces coming together to form a large fleur d’lis.   Each patch has the name of the particular event, as well as an image of a Seminole leader and  an ibis (the lodge totem).    What is lacking on each patch?   The year.   Hopefully, this will be not be a multi-year set.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with the term, a puzzle set is the description of a set, where each event patch  is designed and shaped to fit next to the others in the set to form a larger image.   All  of the  lodges in Florida has made a puzzle set at some point in time.  Some times the set really works, when each smaller patch has a design that can stand on its own, as well as being a part of a larger picture (see Tipisa 326’s 1978 activity set), but more often than not, the individual weekend patch lacks the contect in its design to make sense on its own, without the other patches alongside.
