1961 Area 6-A Fellowship

1961 6-A PatchThe eight lodges of Area 6-A once again met for their area fellowship in 1961.   Croatan 117 hosted this event at Camp Lejeune.   This was the first 6-A fellowship to be held at a military base instead of a the host lodge’s camp as had become customary.

The patch issued for this event is shown here.     As we move into the 1960s, these patches become easier to acquire.     Some patience is still required to find one of these in a truly mint condition.   The white background has a tendency to discolor over time due to age, poor storage conditions, or exposure to smoke.

There was also a neckerchief issued for this meeting.   This was the first official conclave neckerchief since the 1947 Area I meeting.     Neckerchiefs would continue to be issued annually until 2004.

I will cover this year’s neckerchief in a separate post.
