1971 Area 6-A Fellowship
The eight lodges of Area 6-A met at Camp Raven Knob for the 1971 Area 6-A Fellowship. Wahissa 118 was the host.
The patch issued for this event is shown here. The design appears to be very loosely based upon the lodge’s first round, R1. The original brown design was colorized. The teepee from the R1 was removed and some other design changes made.
For the first time since 1964, there were two neckerchiefs issued for this event. The design was a close adaptation of the pocket patch. In a change from the simple single colored neckerchief of 1970, this year’s was multi-colored.
The second neckerchief was for members of the host lodge. The same basic design was used with “Host Lodge” added in red above the design.
The patch is actively sought by collectors of Wahissa memorabilia but can be found without too much difficulty. The basic neckerchief is a bit harder to find as not many people collect these. As expected, the host lodge piece is the hardest of the three.

John,
These was also a leather neckerchief slide for this event. And there was a pencil. The pencils showed up at least at the 1964, 1967 and 1971 6A conferences. I believe that we had these pencils because Kellock Hale had a stationary store in Mount Airy.
I remember seeing a letter he wrote which refers to pencils for a conference. If I am wrong about this, the Wahissa guys will correct me.
Joh,
Correction. To my knowledge, there was no slide for this event. There was a leather slide for the 67 6A also held at Raven Knob.
