Muscogee 221 ZC1?

Muscogee 221 ZC1

A new fake of Muscogee’s Ceremonies chenille, listed as C2 has recently appeared on eBay (screencap). Thanks to Jason Shull and Jason Spangler for informing me of this.

The fake, “ZC1?”, is shown at the head of this post.     I lifted the image from the eBay auction, something which I normally do not do.       As this is a fake, I do not feel any guilt in doing this.

There is disagreement in some quarters about whether fakes should be listed, or even shown on this site.   My opinion has been an attempt should be made to list all items that exist, whether authentic or not.   It is not my place to make a judgment about whether or not the items should be collected.

Also note there is an error in Blue Book, and on this site as it uses the Blue Book database.     The listing data for this issue and teh correction of the C2 are as follows:

Issue Bdr Color/Type Bkgd Name fdl/BSA Comments
C2 DYL C DYL DBL DBL
RED
fdl; DBR fox on RED arrow; 133×130mm; “Ceremonies”
ZC1? ORG C ORG BLK RED fdl; DBR fox on RED arrow; “Ceremonies”
Muscogee 221 page on OAImages.com

It is difficult for me to be sure what the color of the lettering is on both the authentic C2 and its new fake.     I’m guessing from the error in the C2 listing that its lettering is DBL.     The letters on the fake look BLK to me.     If anyone can correct me on the color of the lettering on these two items, please do so.

It appears that the fake has been taken down off of ebay. Whether it was ebay taking it down because of a false listing or if the seller grew a conscience is unclear.

I am surprised as I didn’t expect eBay to end the auction. They key would have been getting an official from the lodge — the “injured party” — to complain.
