1978 SE-3A Conclave
The 1978 SE-3A Conclave, “Service By The Sea”, was hosted by Klahican 331. The pocket patch is pictured here.
This patch design is an apparent departure from established customs at that time. There is no mention of the host lodge on the design. Its totem does not appear. There is nothing to indicate where the conclave was held. One might be able to guess the host lodge as the only lodges in this section on the coast were Klahican and Croatan.
There was also a neckerchief issued for this event. It was silk screened on light blue cloth. The design was based upon that used for the pocket patch. The host lodge is noted by the placing of “331″ on the sail.
There was also a second neckerchief issued that is a bit more difficult to classify. It is the same as the first neckerchief except for the addition of “Host Lodge” in a rather crude looking dark blue silk screen.
I have been told this was produced locally by the lodge. If so, in my opinion it should be considered a lodge, rather than section, issue. I have listed this under Klahican lodge as the “N1.9?”. If a lodge issue, this is the first piece issued by any lodge in this section for the section conclave.
