In 1953, the lodges of Virginia met as Area 3C for the first time at Camp Darden near Franklin, VA. The meeting was hosted by Blue Heron Lodge #349, and was the only meeting to be held at Camp Darden; Blue Heron hosted later 3C meetings at Camp Pipsico.

A white plastic neckerchief slide was issued for the event. There was also a beaded necklace with feathers, shells, and the round plastic slide attached at the bottom.

Ten lodges met at this first Area 3C meeting in 1953:

  • Nawakwa 3
  • Nentico 12
  • Koo Koo Ku Hoo 161
  • Shenandoah 258
  • Shenshawpotoo 276
  • Blue Heron 349
  • Powhatan 456
  • Kecoughtan 463

The following year Nentico #12 would return to Area 3A; the other nine lodges continued as Area 3C through 1973. Amangamek Wipit #470 moved to the Northeast Region in 1983; except for a brief interval in 1994-1997, the other Virginia lodges and their successors have continued to share a section to the present day, where they make up Section SR-7A.
