Ed Glass   recently acquired through eBay what he was hoping would be an X4 from Tali Taktaki.     It turns out the item, pictured to the left, is a new fake and not an issue of Tali Taktaki lodge.     The images used in this post are from Ed and not what was used on eBay.

Ed is still working with the seller of this item, so I will not name the seller at this time.

It appears whoever had this fake made has access to an image of this issue but did not have enough information to fake this properly.     As you can see from this image there are at least two significant differences between this patch and an authentic X4.     First Blue Book and this site lists the X4 as being 99mm (wide) by 148mm (high) while this new patch looks to be only about 90mm high.     Second the X4 comes in two varieties:   TRR (twill right rough) and TRS (twill right smooth).   This fake is TLR (twill left rough).

The very white background is also not one would expect of a vintage patch.

To better show the difference in size of this patch with an authentic Tali oval, Ed also sent me the image pictured on the right.     This shows his recently acquired patch with an X6 known to be authentic.

The listing data for this patch should be as follows:

Issue Bdr Color/Type Bkgd Name fdl/BSA Comments
ZX2? BLU C WHT RED fake of X4; TLR, approx. 90mm tall
