Lodge 117: New Cook Crew Patches
At the SR-7B Conclave a couple of weeks ago two new cook crew patches from Croatan lodge were spotted. Thanks to Greg Grimes and Larry Banks for sending along these images.
One of these patches, pictured was issued for cook crew’s 30th anniversary. I have tentatively listed this as J6? The design features the lodge’s deer totem superimposed upon the central portion of North Carolina’s state flag.
The second patch features a more humorous theme. This patch, labeled as J7?, features a deer in an apron tending to a cauldron. A human head can be seen peeking out of the cauldron.
The listing data for these two issues are as follows:
| Issue | Bdr Color/Type | Bkgd | Name | fdl/BSA | Comments | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| J6? | RED | R | GRY | DYL | GRY | fdl; Croatan Cook Crew 1978 2008 |
| J7? | BLK | R | ORG | BLK | - | Cook Crew |

I don’t see a fleur d’lis on the “J7?”. Am I missing something here?

If I’m not mistaken, the more comical theme jacket patch was issued a couple of years ago. Thus it should be the J-6. Ya’ll correct me if I’m wrong on this one.
I think you’re right. I was thinking that when I saw this. I got the one you are referring to in early 2008 or maybe 2007, I don’t remember. I haven’t gotten the J7 yet nor knew it existed until today.

Larry Banks pointed out a couple of errors of mine. The two patches in this post are numbered backwards. This has been fixed on the main part of the site.
There is also a GMY bordered version of the 30th anniversary patch that will be added to the site soon.
