Nisha Kittan Lodge Announced

Posted in Patch Collecting by John E. Pannell on June 14th, 2009 at 6:11 pm

It was recently announced that Kishkakon 32 and Taleka 81 will merge, following their councils’ merger.     The new council is the Lewis and Clark Council, bucking a BSA trend of giving councils names related to their geographic locations.     Two two lodges will come together this October and form Nisha Kittan lodge.

According to the lodge’s website, the lodge name means “two great rivers” in the Lenape language.     Note that the lodge chooses to spell the first word of their name differently than has been used in other names previously.   Nischa Nitis 410 is an example.   Kittan is also a name of an active lodge.

The lodge’s totem will be the black wolf.     The lodge will use the number 114 which is also the number assigned to the new council by the BSA.     The numbers 32 and 81 will become inactive.

A patch design contest is underway.     I have been told flaps will not be available until early 2010.
