Blog May Shut Down

Posted in OAImages News,Personal Stuff by John E. Pannell on July 4th, 2014 at 1:48 pm

As you can see I have not used this blog much lately. I want to but never have time to write. I also wonder who’s reading. But there is another major reason that might spell the end of the blog.

For the past three weeks I have been hit with ******** who have accessed my server, namely the directories on which the blog is installed, in order to create a phishing site. They are after account information for customers of a large Mexican bank, and restrict access so only those with Mexican IP addresses can readily see their handiwork in a browser. My blog software is up to date, passwords have been changed, server access rights have been examined. I *think* all is good now, however I thought that before, too.

Should it happen again, this blog will probably shut down. My server host has been patient, but I cannot expect him to allow this to continue. Shutting down the blog would be preferable to losing the site entirely!

I read the blog. I love any info on the history of lodges, patches, etc.

Updates on mergers, etc is also a big plus.

Hope you get to keep it going.

    thanks,

Hi John, of course, it’d be a real shame. You’ve also had severe computer/server issues and problems finding a host in the past.

If you did find another host who could solve the security issue, would that be enough? If so, send me an email, I might know someone….

I hope you find a way to keep it live. I enjoy the content be it sporadic or frequent.
