Skyloo 442 - District Issue vs. Chapter Issue

scan0009.jpgAs time passes so does does the knowledge of why a patch was issued.   This has been the case with Skyloo 442/Columbia Pacific Council.

Over the past several months several items have appeared on ebay and in the blue book that suggest that a chapter in Skyloo issued a patch or neckerchief.   As the co-historian of 442 along with Paul Collett, I am going to shed some light on this subject.

Wauna La-Mon’Tay 442 issues a Leather

For the first time in the history of 442 (Hyas Chuck, Skyloo and Wauna) a leather patch has been issued.   These were made at the annual LEC picnic and given to whomever wanted one.   My family acquired three since my wife and son attended.   These were branded and hand cut by the outgoing chief and his father.   I suspect that less than 50 have been created so far.   Plans are for another batch sometime in the future.

Hello everyone. I am Jeff Ansley and I have agreed to become the Oregon W1A contributor to OA Images Blog. I will from time to time post information about new Oregon issues and write about some past issues. Any questions or if you would like to see posted about Oregon OA, feel free to to ask.

A little about myself. I am 44 years old as of July 4th. My father is a retired Marine so I have had scouting experience in 4 different locations - Irvine CA, Arcata CA, Twentynine Palms CA, and Beaverton OR. I graduated college from Oregon State University (GO Beavers - Back to Back CWS Champions). I am also a Marine and Army Reservist. I am a Vigil Member of Wauna La-Mon’Tay 442 and an Eagle Scout Silver Palm. I also am a Woodbadge Buffalo and Silver Beaver.

I have been a member of the following lodges: Cahuilla 127, Skyloo 442, Cole Snass Lamatai 259, Tsisqan 253, Ashie 436, Walamootkin 336 and Wauna La-Mon’Tay 442. I collect any OA from the Western Region with special focus on the Pacific NW and Far East.
