1981 SE-3A Conclave Patch

Tslagi 163 hosted the 1981 SE-3A conclave at Camp Cherokee.     This was the last time these eight lodges would meet by themselves as an OA section.     In 1982 the section would be expanded and become SE-7.

It is an interesting aside to note that this section lasted eight years¹ and consisted of eight lodges.   A conclave rotation system had been established so each lodge hosted the conclave once.     As a result, Tslagi hosted the last SE-3A conclave, just as they hosted the last “Area 6-A Fellowship”   in 1973.

The pocket patch is pictured here.   The central portion of this design is loosely based upon the lodge’s 40th anniversary flap issued in 1979, listed on this site as S8.

1980 SE-3A Conclave Patch

The eight lodges of eastern and central North Carolina gathered once again for the 1980 SE-3A Conclave.   Croatan 117 hosted the event at their camp, Bonner Scout Reservation, also known as Camp Bonner.     The pocket patch for this event is pictured here.   Like the 1978 SE-3A Conclave there is no direct reference on the patch to the host lodge.

Unlike other recent past years there was no neckerchief issued for this conclave.

As far as I know the pocket patch was the only issue for this event.   Please let me know if there was anything else issued by the section.

1979 SE-3A Conclave Patch

Wahissa 118 hosted the 1979 SE-3A conclave at Camp Raven Knob.     The pocket patch, pictured, prominently features the lodge’s calumet totem.   This patch, like those from 1977 and 1978, also includes the conclave theme, “Mindful of Our Traditions”, in its design.

I don’t know if this conclave was smaller than others of this time period.     Excluding new issues, this was the last conclave patch from the past 50 years that I had added to my collection.     For whatever reason I had trouble finding this patch.
