Lodge 116: 2008 Dixie Fellowship

Posted in SR-5 Lodges, Santee 116 by John E. Pannell on May 3rd, 2008 at 12:02 am

116 S26?The 2008 Dixie Fellowship, SR-5 Conclave, was held this past weekend. Nearly all of the 11 lodges in SR-5 issued patches for the event. This is the first of many blog posts detailing the new issues that appeared.

Santee lodge issued a single flap for this year’s conclave. The Carolina Parakeet, desperately in need of some sunscreen, has taken up building sand castles by moonlight. ;) The flap was issued with a red loop so members could wear the patch without having to sew it onto their uniforms.   Thanks to Brad Hutto and Greg Grimes for sending me images of this piece.

Post 1801 Fund Raiser Patch

He couldn’t remember exactly what the patch was made for, but had seen a few floating around South Carolina the last several years.

Why was this patch made? What’s the connection between the named lodges and “Post 1801″. Jason Spangler was able to provide some answers.

Lodge 116: New Vigil Flap Issued

Santee lodge has completed the redesign of their standard OBV series with the release of the new Vigil flap at their recent Summer Fellowship.   While maintaining many traditional design elements, it is a significant change for one of the more conservative southeastern lodges.  Thanks to Jason Spangler for the image of this patch.

The Ordeal and Brotherhood flaps in this series were issued in 2006.

Lodge 116: 2007 Dixie Fellowship Flap

Posted in SR-5 Lodges, Santee 116 by John E. Pannell on May 8th, 2007 at 12:29 am

Santee 116 appears to have adopted a Viking theme for this year’s Dixie Fellowship.   Before returning to the halls of Valhalla, the lodge issued a single flap for this conclave.   Word from the street has it that this flap was not issued to lodge members until 11pm Saturday night during conclave, making it one of the harder lodge issues to get from this year’s Dixie Fellowship.
