Lodge 104: Yamni Wakpa Chapter Neckerchief

104 Yamni Wakpa N1?Yamni Wakpa chapter of Occoneechee lodge recently issued its first neckerchief. This is only one of several new issues produced by this lodge. Thanks to Greg Grimes for scanning this piece for me.

I originally wrote this post a couple of weeks ago, but kept delaying its appearance and placing other items ahead of it.   Sorry, Greg.  The other new issues from this chapter have already been addressed a separate post here.

Lodge 104: Yamni Wakpa Ceremony Team Patches

104 Yamni Wakpa R2?Yamni Wakpa chapter has issued the most patches of any chapter in Occoneechee lodge. In addition to the neckerchief I recently wrote about here, Greg Grimes tells me the chapter is also issuing five new patches for those who have participated on or assisted with any of the chapter’s ceremonial teams.

There are two rounds and three segments. The white border round was a “fundraiser”, freely sold to generate the funds for the other award patches.

Lodge 104: 2008 Spring Inductions

104 2008 Spring InductionsOcconeechee lodge issued the latest in their “headdress series” of patches at their recent Spring Inductions weekend. Thanks to Greg Grimes, as always, for the image.

This patch features the lodge’s thunderbird totem wearing a bear headdress. The previous 2008 Pow-Wow patch had the thunderbird with a fox headdress.

Lodge 104: Gentgeen Patch Varieties

104 J5bIn the 1980s and 1990s Occoneechee lodge issued a jacket patch that was earned by those who met the requirements in the area of American Indian dancing. It is not often seen for sale or trade and remains a difficult piece for collectors to acquire.

Thanks to Joe Cranford, past Occoneechee lodge chief, I am now aware of two varieties of this patch. Joe has two of these from circa 1989 and 1993. Probably due in part to the scarcity of this piece, this difference had not been noticed or cataloged before now.
