185 FF 1985 NeckerchiefI mentioned this piece in a recent post about possible unlisted chapter items from Atta Kulla Kulla lodge. When I had first written the post I did not yet have an image and wasn’t sure if it met the criteria to be listed as a neckerchief.

Thanks again to Charlie Moehlenbrock for letting me know about this item.

Once again, I’ll quote what Charlie had to say about this piece:

Lodge 185 Ca-Nu-Pa Chapter loopsCharlie Moehlenbrock, a former member of Atta Kulla Kulla lodge currently in Kansas, recently wrote me about a few items that should probably be added to the chapter listings for this lodge. He also included the set of shoulder loops pictured here. They’re not material that would be included in a patch catalog but I thought them worthy for sharing here nonetheless.

Unfortunately Charlie isn’t the best photographer, so I must apologize for the less than great quality of these images.

Category IconLodge 270: 2007 Events Patches

Posted in SR-5 Lodges, Skyuka 270 by John E. Pannell on February 26th, 2008 at 12:05 am

270 eA2007-4?A couple of weeks ago Brad Hutto sent me a number of images of new issues from Skyuka 270.  The first of these are the rest of the 2007 activities patches for this lodge.

Skyuka produced two different patches for their 2007 Banquet.  The first version with a blue sun was already on this site as eA2007-1.  The second version has a yellow sun and I have numbered it eA2007-2, renumbering the Spring Fellowship and pre-Dixie patches accordingly.

There are also new patches for the 2007 Ordeal and Fall Fellowship.  All these patches follow the same general design of an American Indian shooting an arrow into the sky, with a mountainous background.   The colors of the mountains reflect the season in which each event was held.

This is the second of two recent issues from Nayawin Rar lodge sent to me by Greg Grimes. This fellowship is an adaptation of the black and white motif used on several recent flaps from this lodge. They are proof that you can have a nice looking patch without using lots of colors.

Fall Fellowship should have been sometime ago, but I only just heard word of this patch just now. It seems my usual sources of information have let me down on these two latest patches. ;)

Posted in SR-5 Lodges, Tsali 134 by John E. Pannell on December 5th, 2007 at 12:29 am

Tsali lodge recently had their Fall Fellowship.  As is customary, a patch was issued for the event.

The design is similar to 2006’s Fall fellowship patch with the border color changed from GMY to BLU.   The lodge’s totem, a drawn bow and arrow, along with the Cherokee characters for Tsali, appear prominently at the top of the patch.

The Blue Book data for this issue is:

Muscogee lodge continues this year’s pattern of “seasonal” patches by picturing the fox, their lodge totem, in an autumnal landscape for this year’s Fall Fellowship patch.   Muscogee lodge also continues to commemorate their 65th anniversary with this patch.  My first impression is that this one is the most artistic and subtle design of the lot.  I like it a lot.

Thanks to Jeff Cook for sending me the image of this piece.

Following recent practice, four activity patches were issued for the lodge’s Spring and Fall fellowship and Ordeal.  The patches all follow an icthyological theme.

Wahissa is one of the few North Carolina lodges in which it seems I do not have consistently great contacts. I hear about some stuff, but know I’m missing things.

Justin Stirewalt recently wrote me to tell me what I suspected: There are many Wahissa issues missing from both Blue Book and my site. His email gave me a brief list of what’s missing. Some of these are old issues that just never made themselves known to catalogue editors. Others are more recent pieces, where word of them has not yet gone much past the lodge.

Category IconLodge 116: The Last 2006 NOAC Flap?

Posted in SR-5 Lodges, Santee 116 by John E. Pannell on March 26th, 2007 at 1:00 am

Just when you thought there would be no more patches issued for last Summer’s NOAC, along comes Santee 116 with their first ever NOAC flap.   Thanks to Jason Spangler for the information and scan.

Jason reports this flap didn’t arrive until after NOAC.  The lodge had these and wanted to release them at the 2006 Fall Fellowship, but they could not decide how to distribute them.  Once a decision was made, the lodge released these at their banquet in January 2007.
