1946 Area J Fellowship Meeting Slide
The lodges of southern Georgia and Florida gathered again from the 1946 Area J Fellowship. As in 1945, Echockotee lodge served as the host lodge for this event.
Also as in 1945, a leather neckerchief slide was issued. Age and the choice of a darker leather make it difficult to read the text of the slide on this image. Once again, thanks to Robert Mathis for this image.

1945 Area J Fellowship Slide
The lodges of Area J met at Camp Echockotee in November of 1945 for their Fellowship Meeting. Echockotee 200 was the host lodge for this event. This might be the first such meeting of these lodges. This is the first piece of memorabilia known to me from this area. I thank Robert Mathis for supplying the images used in this and forthcoming posts about Area J meetings.
This neckerchief slide should look very familiar to those who collect North Carolina Conclave Memorabilia. The piece is almost identical in design and text to the 1945 Area I Fellowship Meeting neckerchief slide.

1954 Area VI-E Conference
It would appear there was some debate over what to call the early Area 6-E meetings. Is it a “fellowship” or a “conference”. The 1954 Area VI-E Conference was held at Camp Soule. Timuquan 340 host lodge.
The only item from this area fellowship that I am aware of is the pocket patch pictured here. As always, thanks to Robert Mathis for sending along this image, as well as many others from his Florida conclave collection.

What Is an OA Issue?
There has been some discussion on patch-l recently about what makes a patch an OA issue. It was sparked when Jeff Ansley shared the patch shown to the left with the group.
Jeff questioned whether or not this item should be listed as an event patch for Malibu 566 because of the inclusion of what appears to be the "MGM Indian" in its design. The general concensus was that this was not an OA issue. It was noted the design included symbols of the various programs found within this council, of which the Order of the Arrow was one.
I also touched upon this issue, in my recent post about two unlisted items that might be chapter issues from Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188.
This leads to a broader discussion of what is an OA issue and how is it decided whether or not to include an item on this site or in Blue Book. It's not always as simple as you might think.

Are You a Patch Weenie?
Jim Goldrup recently sent me images of several new issues from various New England lodges. Among these images was an unusual certificate awarded at the 2004 NE-1B conclave to those brothers who completed the "Patch Design Session".
I've known a "patchor" and a "patch geek" or two over the years, but this is a new one for me. Are you a patch weenie?

Lodge 117: 2008 Fall Fellowship
Croatan lodge recently issued a patch for this year's Fall Fellowship. This has the a similar design to the anniversary flap I previously mentioned on this blog. As far as I know this is the only event patch the lodge has issued this year.
Thanks to Greg Grimes for supplying the images of both these recent issues.

Lodge 270: Spartan Chapter Election Team Patch
After sending images of three recent issues from this chapter, Brad Hutto found a fourth new issue from Spartan chapter of Skyuka 270. This newest one was issued to members of the chapter's unit election teams. Like other recent issues, this issue is shaped like the state of South Carolina and feature the lodge's double-headed thunderbird superimposed upon a palmetto tree.
This patch is identical to the one I previously labeled "X9?" except for the color of the fleur d'lis (fdl) which was changed from grey to red. There is no writing on the patch to indicate an intended use for chapter unit election teams.

In 1958, the lodges of Area 3F met at Camp Twin Echo, near Ligioner, Pennsylvania, site of the 1948 Area F and 1953 Area 3B meetings. The meeting was hosted by Anicus Lodge #67.
The event patch had the same design as the previous two Area 3F patches, with the border and lettering in brown.

by Dave Scocca
On May 3 and 4, 1958, the lodges of Area 3E met at Camp Kline in Ramsey, Pennsylvania. The Pow Wow was hosted by Tiadaghton Lodge #384. This was the first meeting at Camp Kline, and the first hosted by Tiadaghton Lodge.
Following the Area 3E practice of the time, attendees received a neckerchief with a patch from the host lodge attached.
