Category IconLodge 331: 2008 SR-7B Conclave Flap

331 S66?Klahican lodge issued one of the best looking flaps I have seen in a few years from any of the North Carolina lodges. The very artful sunrise scene is similar in design to the event patch. Kudos to the patch designer and the embroiderer for such nice work.

Now, why do I call this a sunrise instead of a sunset? Well, Klahican lodge is headquartered in Wilmington, NC. In that part of the country if you are seeing the Sun over the ocean it is most likely early in the morning!

I’ll avoid showing my age and leave the “obvious” reference to 1980s music to the readers to figure out.

Camp Bowers is undergoing extensive renovations and has been closed since the end of last Summer. So, the lodge adopted an “Under Construction” theme for this year’s SR-7B conclave.

Michael Ryan has pointed out to me that there are “problems” with the Blue Book neckerchief listings for this lodge. He sent me images of four more neckerchiefs that have so far escaped listing in Blue Book.

It seems there has been some confusion and disagreement among various editors here in the Southeast as to how or whether to list conclave contingent items other than basic flaps. That, combined with the relative lack of interest in neckerchiefs until recently, may help explain why these pieces have not been listed before.

Once again, thanks to Woody Woodruff for letting me scan these pieces from his collection. Thanks to him, I added images to the site for several very difficult pieces as well as being able to document several more that are not yet in Blue Book.

These two neckerchiefs from 1989 and 1991 have managed to escape inclusion in Blue Book for all these years. One was issued for the 1989 SE-7 Conclave. The other piece’s raison d’etre is less than perfectly clear but was issued in 1991.

Over the next few weeks, I will be posting a year end round of of lodge events issues for this past year.

Consider this a not so subtle hint and request: If your lodge events issues are not yet on OAImages.com, please send the information and scans along to me.

To my knowledge Klahican 331 issued no events patches in 2006.
