post1801.jpgJeff Cook has been trying to keep me up to date with South Carolina items lately After seeing my recent post on possible issues from lodge 185, he sent me the image of the rather unusual patch pictured. It uses the names of three South Carolina lodges but appears to be issued by an Explorer post. He couldn’t remember exactly what the patch was made for, but had seen a few floating around South Carolina the last several years.

Why was this patch made? What’s the connection between the named lodges and “Post 1801″. Jason Spangler was able to provide some answers.

eX2008-1?Muscogee lodge has issued a patch for their recent Spring Fellowship Thanks to Jeff Cook for sending me word of this new issue.

Like last year’s issues, the plan is for this year’s events patches to follow a seasonal theme. The Spring Fellowship patch appears to be shaped like a shamrock. The design features a fox in what appears to be a salt marsh environment.

221 S36Brad Hutto has been doing his best to keep me busy with South Carolina issues lately.  If only folks in the other 49 states were as eager to keep my busy.   Thanks.

Muscogee lodge recently issued a flap in honor of their lodge brother, Mason Thomas, who was elected the Order of the Arrow’s (OA) 2008 Southern Region Chief.

Muscogee lodge has come out with a new standard flap. The flap features an new artistic rendering of the lodge’s fox totem in what appears to be a Southeastern “low land” forest. The artistic style kind of matches this year’s activity patches and I suspect it is the work of the same artist.

Category IconLodge 221: 2007 Fall Fellowship

Posted in Muscogee 221, SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on October 9th, 2007 at 12:05 am

Muscogee lodge continues this year’s pattern of “seasonal” patches by picturing the fox, their lodge totem, in an autumnal landscape for this year’s Fall Fellowship patch.   Muscogee lodge also continues to commemorate their 65th anniversary with this patch.  My first impression is that this one is the most artistic and subtle design of the lot.  I like it a lot.

Thanks to Jeff Cook for sending me the image of this piece.

Yesterday Brad Hutto sent me some scans of Muscogee lodge pieces that were not yet on my site.   Among them was the most recent event patch, their 2007 Summer Fellowship.   Thanks, Brad.

If you look carefully, you will see that “Camp Barstow” is embroidered below the word “lodge” and the lodge number above “lodge”, in the same colors as the background.  The fleur d’lis is to the left of the fox’s head.

The red, orange and yellow in the design remind me more of Fall than Summer, but it is a very attractive patch nonetheless.  I appreciate well done designs, especially since I can’t draw to save my life.

Muscogee lodge has recently issued its first Dixie delegate patch this century.  Thanks to Brad Hutto for the image.

It also pays homage to the lodge’s 65th anniversary.   Note the small “65″ between the lodge totem and the LBL fleur d’lis.

“Diamonds Are Forever”.    I wonder:  will the lodge will be adopting a James Bond theme for this conclave?   The “Diamond Anniversary” is traditionally the 60th anniversary, not 65th.

Over the next few weeks, I will be posting a year end round up of lodge events issues for this past year. For some lodges I have no information, so unless someone tells me what event patches their lodge has made this past year the update will be very short.

Let this be a friendly reminder:  Please send me images of any unpictured issues — new or old — for inclusion online.

I know of three events issues from Muscogee lodge in 2006. Blue Book information for these patches are as follows: Continue Reading »
