Category IconLodge 104: New Standard Flaps

104ob08.jpgOcconeechee will soon issue two new “standard” flaps. To comply with policy that there not be any special Ordeal, Brotherhood and Vigil flaps these will be sold as the lodge’s “standard” flap and a “gold mylar special edition” flap. As the lodge has an ample stock of their older Vigil flaps, there will not be a “silver mylar special edition” flap at this time. It is expected these will be issued at the lodge’s Spring Inductions in May. Thanks to Greg Grimes again for keeping me informed of this lodge’s issues.

134 S61?Since special flaps for Ordeal, Brotherhood, and Vigil members are now officially forbidden, Tsali lodge decided they needed to issue a new standard flap. Thanks to Hank Birdsong for letting me know about this.

This new flap uses the design of their most recent OBV set (S51-S53), changing the border color to blue. As an aside, it’s interesting to note that all previous blue bordered flaps from Tsali lodge (S11, S22, S33, S43) are among the lodge’s toughest flaps to acquire.

The set includes a pocket patch with a WHT background (X-21?; 250 made), to be sold for $7 each, in order to finance the incentive program, and a BLK background (X-22?; 100 made), to be given to those that participate in a ceremony as a character. The last piece is a jacket patch (J-3?; 100 made), to be given to those that participate in four ceremonies.

Category IconLodge 270: 2007 Events Patches

Posted in SR-5 Lodges, Skyuka 270 by John E. Pannell on February 26th, 2008 at 12:05 am

270 eA2007-4?A couple of weeks ago Brad Hutto sent me a number of images of new issues from Skyuka 270.  The first of these are the rest of the 2007 activities patches for this lodge.

Skyuka produced two different patches for their 2007 Banquet.  The first version with a blue sun was already on this site as eA2007-1.  The second version has a yellow sun and I have numbered it eA2007-2, renumbering the Spring Fellowship and pre-Dixie patches accordingly.

There are also new patches for the 2007 Ordeal and Fall Fellowship.  All these patches follow the same general design of an American Indian shooting an arrow into the sky, with a mountainous background.   The colors of the mountains reflect the season in which each event was held.

Skyuka lodge has recently issued new OBV set of flaps, using their traditional double headed thunderbird design. What happened with the prohibition regarding such flaps? Has the prohibition been repealed or modified, or is Skyuka lodge ignoring it?

Thanks to Jeff Cook and Richard Cash for passing these images along to me.

Santee lodge has completed the redesign of their standard OBV series with the release of the new Vigil flap at their recent Summer Fellowship.   While maintaining many traditional design elements, it is a significant change for one of the more conservative southeastern lodges.  Thanks to Jason Spangler for the image of this patch.

The Ordeal and Brotherhood flaps in this series were issued in 2006.

Thanks to Brad Hutto for sending me several images of recent event patches from Skyuka 270.

Three of these are 2006 events issues not previously mentioned here.   They were issued for the lodge’s Pre-Dixie Fellowship, Summer Ordeal, and Fall Fellowship.   As with the first two events patches for 2006, these are designed to be worn around the 2006 arrowman patch, to be listed as R2.

The fourth patch, pictured to the left, was issued for the lodge’s 2007 Banquet.

Blue Book information for these is below.
